The Team "Serial Cleaners" has decided to monitor the project "Domestic composing to reduce the production of municipal waste ATO AG 3 Dedalo".
Our team is made up of the following members: the Head of Research is Angelo Sferrazza, the Project Manager are Mario Carrozza and Giulia Bona, the designers are Salvatore Florio and Tommaso Greco, the Analysts are Miriam Controversio, Asia Riccobene, Marika Incorvaia and Ilaria Comparato, the Social Media Manager is Vincenzo Vittorioso, the Storytellers are Alessia Alesci, Silvia Mulè, Angela Sitibondo, Angela Alabiso, Simona Cannizzaro, the Bloggers are Giuseppe Alesci, Giada Messina, the Coders are Samuele Mazzerbo, Morena Truisi, Veronica Oliveri.
The choice derives from the observation of the degraded environmental situation in Licata where a lot of citizens are not able to respect the rules relatively to the domestic waste disposal. From the data research it emerges that many citizens do not pay the taxes for the garbage so they do not have the tubs supplied by the municipality for the garbage collection. Many plastic bags full of waste are abandoned on the streets and this horrible practice makes our beautiful town really dirty. For the waste collectors it is really hard, maybe impossible, to remove all the rubbish everywhere. Especially in the town outskirts it is common to see illegal landfills. The lack of cleanliness affects many aspects of people's lives. The illegal landfills can harm people's health even for the presence of insects or rats which find shelter and food in them. It was weird to us to find out that some years ago and precisely in 2009, almost 15 years ago, there was a project to start the differentiation of waste. We wondered why, in spite of the fact that all these European funds were spent for recycling collection, even today this good practice is not carried out properly.
Our logo symbolizes a greener planet where its inhabitants have the role of “serial cleaners”. This Team name is based on the negative expression “serial Killers” which is changed in something positive that is serial cleaners , people who, constantly, take care of the planet.
In order to carry out our civic monitoring we have chosen some keywords which are: Differentiation, Respect , Sustainability, Cleanliness , Environment.
The objective of the research is to find the reasons why we are not able to carry out the waste collection properly and to find some solutions to encourage people to be more respectful to the environment.
So the research is aimed to raise people's awareness towards the environmental issues, starting from keeping clean our own town.
